COVID-19 in Swaziland

In Swaziland (Eswatini), COVID-19 cases continue to rise. In a country with the world’s highest rate of HIV, a disease that weakens immune systems, the health impact is serious. But that is only part of the problem the Swazis are facing. The economic and social impacts are equally severe. Our partner, Mathie Mathunjwa, says of COVID-19, “Just like HIV and AIDS, if you not infected you are affected.”

Mathie says, “If you still have your old job at this moment consider yourself very lucky. The situation here is too bad and we can’t do anything about it.”
